What a great ad looks like

I recently stumbled across one of the best ads I have seen in a long time and I wanted to share it with you.

It’s not expensively produced–in fact, it is for a non-profit. It’s not from Crispin or Goodby, but rather from a great little agency in Nebraska. What I love about it is that it communicates so much by saying so little. Its brilliance is in its simplicity–the simple visuals carry a human truth message which goes straight to your heart. It even works on an archetypal level showing how, sometimes, “Caregiver” trumps “Hero.”

The ad is for the Special Olympics and was created by a terrific little agency in Omaha called, Bailey Lauerman. We all recognize the familiar podium visual in the gym, but immediately also notice that something is different–it has four platforms. The familiar is transformed and calls our attention to the labels on the podium. The simple call to action at the bottom reads: “Winning isn’t everything. To get involved, call 800-247-0105,” which is all the copy this wonderful little ad needs.

Creative talent like this is hard to find. If you find them, make sure you give them lots of hugs.
